12-hour Angul bandh hits normal life
Angul: A 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the Angul Janajiban Suraksha Samiti has badly affected normal life in the district today.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed. Both Government and private buses were off the roads; and schools and colleges, petrol pumps, post offices and banks also remained shut.
Pro-bandh activists held road blockades burning tyres and picketed before different offices.
The outfit is observing the bandh to press for fulfillment of its four point charter of demands, including upgradation of the Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) into a super specialty hospital.
The other demands include early completion of the under-construction Mahanadi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (MIMSR) at Talcher, filling up of vacant doctor posts in various hospitals.
