10th exam: Odisha govt urges farmers’ body to cancel protest

Bhubaneswar: In view of the annual high school certificate (HSC) examination beginning February 22, the Odisha government on Monday requested the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) to refrain from observing bandh on February 21.

The NNKS has called for a state-wide bandh on February 21 and announced to block roads, vehicles, railway service, government offices and educational institutes.

As the HSC examination scheduled to begin on February 22, all question and answer papers for the examinations will be sent to the respective centres a day before on February 21, a statement said.

Besides, about six lakh students, their guardians, teachers and other staff of the educational institutes will visit the respective examination centres.

In view of the larger interest of the students, the state government is requesting the farmers’ body to cancel their bandh, the statement added.

Worth mentioning, the farmers’ body has called for a 12-hour bandh to protest against the alleged gross apathy of the state government towards the farming community.
